bay and Adelaide, 1940s
Acrylic on Wood, 36” x 48” « Back | Next »
This was my first painting in this collection, and I chose it before I knew that I would be moving forward with this series. To me, it represented a forgotten and seemingly insignificant moment in a familiar location, at Bay and Adelaide, looking toward Old City Hall. When I saw this image in the Archives it was, of course, in black and white, and it ultimately informed what I ended up finding out with each of the paintings in this series: this ghostly image was one that was actually teeming with life and character, and represented a moment that deserved to be rediscovered.
This work will be exhibited at my upcoming show at Urban Gallery in Toronto! The original painting, as well as a selection of signed and numbered prints will be available for sale. You can also buy a print right now by clicking the button below.
