Queen and Spadina, 1924
Acrylic on Wood, 18” x 36” « Back | Next »
I chose this image as a basis for a painting because of my familiarity with the intersection. When I was a student living downtown Toronto, I frequently walked down these streets, took the Spadina streetcar, used the bank machine at what is now the CIBC on the Northeast corner, and visited what is now the McDonald’s on the Northwest corner after a night out on Queen West. Like the people in this painting, I knew this area well, and wanted to rediscover it through their eyes.
This work will be exhibited at my upcoming show at Urban Gallery in Toronto! The original painting, as well as a selection of signed and numbered prints will be available for sale. You can also buy a print right now by clicking the button below.
